Green Mound Juniper Bonsai
Juniperus procumbens 'Nana'is the scientific name but known by many in the United states as the Green Mound Juniper, is a personal favourite. Its tidy green foliage and ground-hugging make it perfect for groundcover, yet it is the foliage arrangement and the way in which the new shoots grow that give this bonsai tree its tough appeal. I grow it on the edge of paving here in the United states, where it can best show off its awesome characteristics.

The main attraction of the leaves of the green mound juniper is such that it is widely used to make bonsai trees, particularly in the USA, where it has become the 'standard' bonsai juniper, despite the fact that it will not grow into a tree left untrained and is in fact a low-growing, groundcover plant!
The Green Mound Juniper has leaves of an apple green colour, that is green with just a touch of silvery-blue. It will grow well in an open position away from big shrubs or trees and prefers well-drained soil. If your soil is clay or heavy dig two or three bucketfuls of fine gravel or pea shingle deep into the yard into the center of which you are going to plant your juniper. When planting also include organic matter into the hole and mix with the soil. Grows four or five feet across in ten years.
Light
Filtered or shaded sunlight is best for your Juniper bonsai. Allow your Juniper bonsai to get weak morning sunlight when possible and avoid the scorching afternoon sunlight.
Feeding
Fertilize your Juniper bonsai once every two weeks during the growing season, spring until fall. I would recommend using an organic liquid fertilizer such as a fish emulsion or an organic seaweed fertilizer. Chemical fertilizers may be used but should be water downed to about one half strength so that precious roots are not harmed. Organic pellets such as rice cakes can also be used along with standard fertilizers.
With age it will mound on itself, The tree becomes a slight purple color or bronze in winter. The natural movement of the Green Mound's trunk and branches creates the essence of bonsai.
Bonsai tree can handle FREEZING, but PROTECT FROM STRONG WINDS & SEVERE COLD.
Spray with water daily through the foliage.
Water when the soil moderately dries, but do not let the soil completely dry out.
Fertilize at one-third strength during the growing season.
Finger-pinch the new growth to keep the shape & size.
A great plant for beginners.
Green Mound junipers are one of the most common and basic bonsai made. Most people's thoughts of a bonsai is a juniper. They are generally very good in a broad growing range all over the United States. The main reason they die is usally poor maintainence. They are out door type trees and must have a similar environement. After that its just a matter of watering, fertilizing and trimming. Sometime repotting is necessary. This kind of information is available in the most basic of bonsai books for your bonsai success.

Which wall color is good for my room that has pink, apple green black and white stuff in it?
Okay, I have pink, apple green, black and white things in my room. But, I'm planning to change my wall color (which is apple green) because i don't think apple green goes good with black. So, what color(s) do you suggest for the wall color?
What type of things are colored in pink and green apple? Which one is more predominant? Personally, I think Green Apple does look good with black, but if you have more pink items a nice pink or fuschia might look nice. But I would recommend doing the fuschia in an accent wall and having the others be while. Maybe you could even do a pattern or texture technique?!
Good Luck!
