Making Your Own Embroidered Card
You can make an embroidered card with help of sewing machine or hand. Normal embroidery techniques and stitches which are used to create decorative fabrics can be used to make crafty and beautiful cards. Usually one strand thread should be used with medium weight card stock. You should not to tear or crease it.
You should have good understanding about the various card designs. Outlined designs work far better than the dense patterns. You can easily embroider separate piece of card. After embroidering it, you can glue that card to a different folded piece. You can directly use this technique instead of embroidering a card directly. You have to choose your card stitches carefully. The card stalk should not be punctured like fabric and it should not bounce back.
Avoid use of dense stitches like satin stitches which make lots of holes close to each other, as it will make your task harder. Stitches which puncture the card stock at regular intervals are the best ones. Whip stitch and the running stitch are the best stitches you can use for your cards. You can decorate the card with crayons or paint or you can draw the outlines of motif to complete the design details of embroidered card.
You can have various designs on your cards like a Christmas tree, any flower designs and birthday cake with candles which are outlined with dense stitches. You can also make use of sewing machine for your card embroidery. You can use paper or card stock in your sewing machine. You have to change the needle after sewing the card as it blunts by the card stock. Straight line designs can be very easily machine embroidered on the card stock.
You have to set the sewing machine according to your needs. You have to set the machine if you want zigzag, straight or long stitches. Directly sew thread onto the piece of card stock or instead you can also use sewing machine. With the help of machine you can puncture the holes along your design lines.

In this way you can add different elements to the design, as the color of the mounting card underneath shows through.
