30 Ways To Lace Shoes(11)
29. Hexagram Lacing
This purely decorative lacing forms a hexagram, or six pointed star. This geometric symbol has been used for centuries in various cultures and religions, most notably as the Jewish "Star of David". This lacing works best with thinner or flat laces because several eyelets have to accommodate two passes of shoelace.
Lacing Technique:
1. The lace is run straight across the bottom (grey section) and the ends are fed in through both bottom eyelets. Adjust the ends so that the left (blue) end is quite a bit shorter than the right (yellow) end.
2. The ends are crossed over each other, then fed in through the fourth set of eyelets up the shoe (skip past two sets of eyelets).
3. Both ends are run straight down on the inside and emerge through the next set of eyelets down the shoe.
4. The right (blue) end is run diagonally up to the left, then fed under the side to emerge through the top left eyelet.
5. The left (yellow) end is run in a complete loop: Straight across on the outside and in through the adjacent eyelet on the right side of the shoe, then straight up on the inside to emerge through the next eyelet up the right side, then back across on the outside and in through the adjacent eyelet on the left side, then back down on the inside to re-emerge through the third eyelet up the left side.
6. The left (yellow) end is then continued diagonally up to the right, feeding under the side to emerge through the top right eyelet.
Features:
Decorative look
Loose fit
Harder to tighten
30. Footbag Lacing
Footbag players use this lacing to open up the front of their shoes, making it easier to catch or otherwise control the footbag (or "Hacky Sack"). This page shows four popular variations of Footbag Lacing, the common element being long, straight segments along the outside that pull the toe section outwards.
Lacing Technique:
1. The lace runs straight across and emerges from the third set of eyelets from the bottom (grey section).
2. Both ends run straight down and are fed into the second set of eyelets from the bottom.
3. Both ends again run straight down and emerge through the bottom set of eyelets.
4. Both ends now run straight up along the outside and are fed into the fourth set of eyelets (the first vacant pair).
5. The ends are crossed over each other, then they go under and out through the next set of eyelets up the shoe.
6. Repeat step (5) until both ends reach the top.

For my new soccer cleats they have round laces should i replace them with flat laces?
I got these new outdoor soccer cleats and they came with round laces. My dad told me to change the laces to flat ones and my mom said it wont make a difference. I was just wondering if it would make a difference. So I just need to know should I keep the round laces or go get flat ones.
Oh yea I forgot to mention I play travel so if it makes any difference I would get flat laces.
I find that flat laces are better, but I hardly ever get around to actually changing them. The only real problem I have with round laces is that they like to come untied pretty easily. It you don't want to replace the laces I suggest tapping over your laces and around your cleats with electrical tape, or if you have a little money to invest, you can buy a band to keep them tied. To see what I mean, you can do to academy sports and outdoors website and look under soccer accessories. Hope this helps!
