How does the size chart on a sewing pattern compare to the size of clothing off the rack?
So, if I wear a size 6 off the rack, what size would I need to use for a Simplicity sewing pattern? Why are the sizes so different?
There is no standard when it comes to RTW (ready to wear).
Designers use "vanity" sizing to draw more customers. It sounds better to say I wear a size 0, when actual body measurements indicate there should be a 1 before that 0.
Take your accurate body measurements. Then when you select a sewing pattern, compare your true measurements with those on the back of the pattern package for the correct size you need for that particular brand and design.
