Lilith Fair Tickets - Carly Simon and Queen Latifah Added to Lilith Fair Bill
Founders of the female-fronted traveling festival Lilith Fair have dusted off the festival after a 10-year hiatus, causing quite a stir in the music community! Lilith Fair organizers recruited a genre-bending, star-studded lineup for the 2010 edition of the festival, and now Pollstar.com reports that the lineup has been augmented to include two more major stars: Carly Simon and Queen Latifah. Simon will appear on Lilith Fair stops in Mansfield, Mass. (July 30); Holmdel, N.J. (July 31) and Hartford, Conn. (August 1) while Queen Latifah will perform in Las Vegas, Nev. (July 9) and Clarkson, Mich. (July 21).
Tour co-founder Terry McBride gushed about the addition of Simon, saying, "Carly Simon embodies the entire spirit of Lilith. She is a generation icon who continues to have a tremendous influence on so many women, whether musicians or fans. I can guess that many of the Lilith 2010 artists were impacted by her voice and words at some point. It's truly an honor that she has come on board." Although Simon has a new album out, Never Been Gone, she is perhaps best known for "You're So Vain." The song first appeared in December 1972 and its meaning has been questioned since then. Along with Simon's label, Iris Records and the Tribeca Film Festival, Spinner recently picked Brett Bisogno's video out of hundreds of submissions for the official video for the iconic track.
Lilith Fair organizers are also ecstatic about Queen Latifah joining the bill. Co-founder Marty Diamond told Pollstar.com, "Queen Latifah's spirited performances on the original Lilith Fair are still some of the most memorable. She has had a remarkable career over the past 11 years, from music, to acting to now film production. She is a role model and inspiration to many, and we are thrilled that she is taking the time from her hectic schedule to rejoin the tour." Queen Latifah's latest blockbuster is Just Wright, a rom-com also starring Paula Patton and rapper Common, while she returned to hip-hop with the R&B meets hip-hop album Persona in 2009. The triple-threat has also signed on for a new scripted series called Single Ladies to air on VH1.

Singer Sara McLachlan (also set to perform the 2010 edition) founded Lilith Fair back in 1997 and the festival ran until 1999, featuring performances from female artists like the Dixie Chicks, Nelly Furtado, Sinead O'Conner, Mya, Jewel, Lauryn Hill, Christina Aguilera, Bonnie Raitt, Tracy Chapmen, Dido and others. This year's edition of the Lilith Fair will kick off with a June 27th gig in Calgary, Alberta, after which point the travelling festival will make 36 stops scattered across North America.

What does Simon on American Idol mean when he says a performance was "indulgent"?
He means that the singers are not picking songs to showcase their talent/voice/range. He wants them to pick songs that challenge them and make them go to the top. But when they're indulgent, they just pick their favorite song and usually it's too safe and doesn't show what they can do. The point of the show is people are supposed to come out there and give it all they got and prove they're in it to win it. I hate when people say "i just wanted to have fun" because while yes it's fun, they need to go, go, go!!!
