Can I glue mosaic tiles to a mirror?
I have a huge mirror in my bathroom with no frame. I want to glue a small 1" border of mosaic tile TO THE MIRROR SURFACE. Will this work, and what glue should I use?
Also, is there any way to make the tiles self-adhesive so they can be removed if I want? I don't want to mess up the surface of the mirror of this is possible. Thanks!
Yes you can glue them right to the surface with E600 or plumbers goop. Locktite works great too, because you have faster grab and don't have to tape them in place while they dry. You can also attach a wooden border with the mosaic tiles already glued and grouted to that as well. I used heavy duty hook and loop tape on the back of the wood and attached to the mirror so that I could remove it and then just clean the adhesive off of the mirror. If you mosaic directly on to the mirror, you really cannot grout it because you have no edge, so you will have raw glass or tile edges. Now, the glass mosaic does not look bad that way, but I sincerely did not like seeing the edge of the tiles amplified by the mirror reflection.
